Final art project.

I had lots of problems trying to do my final tack. First off I didn't know How thick I wanted to make it. So after that I carved the fish out of the clay. Then I wasn't at school for a few days. So I put the clay in a bag so it WOULDN'T dry out but it did. So I had to carve out the worlds I wanted to put in the clay. But then I had a idea to bring it home to work on. So I put it in my bag and brought it home. And when I pulled it out of my bag it was broken.

The idea for this project was to show people who aren't from here what it is like here. All the words told the person who was looking at the art work what it looks like and what people feel about the area we live in. A lot of people think differently about how it is in Nipigon and Red Rock. I also got the idea from earlier in high school we all had to work with clay and I seen people making clay work like this so I thought I could do this and try and show people what it is like living in the Nipigon Red Rock area.

The Art can show someone how I feel about the place I live in. I picked the words that first came into my head when I thought about how it is living in the area I do live in.

When you look at the clay it looks smooth but when you really feel it you feel the uneven parts of the clay. You can also feel the words how them indent in the clay and how you outline of the fish pops out so it gives the clay more depth. It isn't a perfect rectangle the lines are not straight everywhere. But nothing is perfect here. Also the outline for the fish that I uses is just a any kind of fish. nothing special. I couldn't draw you a fish that is from here.

I feel that I did a good job with all that happened with is braking and all that. I don't think I will be finishing the project because school is finished now and wont be able to fire it. Also there were a lot of things that went wrong with this project.

The last series!

I started with a blank canvas and painted family on it. I wanted to do something that had to do with my family and show who I came from. I put both my grandparents and my parents and my mom and dad. I didn't add my brother in to because I didn't have time to put them on the art work.. haha

I put a picture oh my camp because that was the last place all my family were together. And I put a red rock because it stands for that my parents are still with me.

"Appropriate Appropriation" opinion

Stealing? no one should steal from anybody. This guy stole this girls photo from her Instagram and sold it. But she didn't get anything out of this deal, no money not even any credit. I think this is just wrong. This is the link to my teachers log to show you more in depth what happened. Since this post is just about my opinion. http://mrsroseart.blogspot.ca/2015/05/appropriate-appropriation.html

When I hear about someone stealing something like this it sounds bad. But it has happened before a long time ago, But since it is in my life time I feel more about it then I do with older paintings. This man who took this image from this girl should of at least gave her some credit for the image. But she didn't get anything. If this happened to me I would be really upset with the fact that someone got money for it and creator didn't get anything from it. This guy sold this image for around a million dollars.

I think this girl should go after this man since it was her work. This man did something wrong and should learn it was wrong to do something like this. If he did this who knows if he will do it again or not..

People take art works and try to make them their own. But when I think about it I still think its not there own work. But just adding onto the painting to say that they can make it their own. But from my point of view it still isn't there own art work. Also there is this guy who makes saying from newspapers by blacking out the work and making it say something funny or something different. But he didn't know people have already done this. He was just copying the idea about it.. This man looked up where it came from and made a time line from when it started to him.

This is the video this guy did to share his idea. And this video is where I learn about what he did.

I do think this is a cool idea. But it isn't his original idea but he is just following the idea other people have had. It's not like he's taking a painting and drawing over it like how some people do. When people do graffiti on walls or trains different people add on to original art works. Sometimes people feel that they are making it better but who knows if the creator thinks it's better or not. I never really thought about this until my teacher brought it up in class of people tampering with other painting someone else has made. I feel it is wrong but someone can follow with the idea they had just don't need to take the original art work.

final culminating

Thoughts!

I know I want to work with clay again. Get a flat piece of clay and carve out a fish and fire it then paint it, BUT I wanted to have some words on it that tells someone who is not from here what it is like here. Like the word Superior to tell them that lake it near us. Also the words forest, rock, Nipigon River, hills and wildlife.  These words make me think of the area we live in.

thoughts about the #scratchandmix project.

Looking at the blog post for the first time my first thought was what is this about? and who will benefit from this group? I knew that this group wasn't from here so I wasn't sure what it had to do with me. But when my teacher showed the class this she wanted us to just blog about it and give are ideas about what this group does. I do like how on twitter could get people to connect to others when they do not live close to one another. I did watch one of the videos on my phone and I saw a girl dancing and how a guy addressed the people who want to hear him speak. I wouldn't mind going to Toronto to see this kind of group and see what kinds of art there is out there then just paintings. I personally do think dance and singing is a art. Some people can do it and some can't. This is all different kinds of moment that each person could make.
I do like the work of Jah Grey. When you look at his web page you see a photo that I am guessing that is him. I went to one of his pages and read a little about him and he is pretty interesting. I always loved people who just took photos and that got recognized for his work.

Fur voice - Fantasia (thoughts)

This video reminds me of a kind of music video that no one really knows the real meaning behind it. But I do like who it's not just pictures of art and it's a video. I thought it was very creative I did like it. But I would like to know what she was thinking when she made this video and what made her come up with those ideas for the video

Call to artists (thoughts)

Thoughts!

I was thinking about doing a quote on my design. If I thought of a saying that some people could connect and have a picture of the city behind the saying. But maybe have more then one picture like have one go over another over lapping. But make sure the saying is still able to be seen.

http://www.thunderbay.ca/Visiting/About_Thunder_Bay.htm

Like in the sky it could have a saying in the picture, And then maybe find a way to over lap the pictures, but have this picture be the center where you look first.
It's still a thinking processes but I like this idea.

Cubism.

Cubism.
http://www.artyfactory.com/art_appreciation/art_movements/cubism.htm

"The Cubist painters rejected the inherited concept that art should copy nature, or that they should adopt the traditional techniques of perspective, modeling, and foreshortening."
http://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/cube/hd_cube.htm

Cubism came around in the early twentieth century. Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque in 1907 and 1914 was the first people to make a painting with cubism. The movement started in 1902 to about the 1920s. After a while of seeing these kinds of painting people started to look for different ways to express their art.

Analytical Cubism - someone would study the painting and break it into two different types of blocks and look at the painting from different angles. And then tell what they see if it looks 3D or if they see something different

Synthetic Cubism - This type of cubism is adding different types of materials into the art work. Artis would use colour paper, news paper and other materials to represent the different blocks. This made it have brighter colours and lighter mood to the art work.

Three Musicians (Pablo Picasso)
http://www.pablopicasso.org/three-musicians.jsp

This painting is by Pablo Picasso. He works with Synthetic Cubism in this painting. When you look at the painting you should see the blue almost right away. I think this was coloured paper and makes it easier to look at instead of having all those different colour. The light browns in the background gives the painting more depth I feel.

Second idea in progress

When I first got this idea I was thinking about how two animals and humans stand together to complete each other. So in this painting I took to owls and made them sit on a branch together while looking out to the yellow background that is to show the suns colours.
This wasn't one of my ideas to do when I blogged about what kind of ideas I had. When I got this idea I was at home and it hit me so I kept the idea with me all night till I got to school and just started painting. I knew I wanted to do a painting so I started this one.
The only trouble I have had with this painting was the background colour. I blended the colours with my fingers because it felt easyier how to move the paint. The paint brush made it feel like I couldn't blend it the way I wanted it.
The painting is going to say "standing together" the reason why I want it to say this is because I get attached to people fast. And then those people will walk out of your life but you do get some people who will stay with you for everything. This is why I picked the two owls to show that some people do stay with you for a long time. Also that is another reason why it is saying "standing together"

TVO The Agenda

I know stereotyping is a big problem in the time period we live in. Everyone will be judged at least once in their life. I know aboriginal people are targeted also with other raises. Some people don't like to talk about it but some do. Think about how you would feel about being stereotyped? It probably wont feel good. So why should we do it other people. Like how my teacher in art said it is hard to take the initiative to take time out of their lives to help make a change not just for yourself. But someone is stereotyped it can be hard for them to walk out into the world and not care. Some people can be very sensitive about it. But everyone is there own person and picks who they want to be.

     http://www.successcircuit.com/blog/stereotypes-and-stereotyping/

Also my teacher said that there is a project going on called walking with our sisters. "Each pair of vamps (or “uppers” as they are also called) represents one missing or murdered Indigenous woman."( quote taken from  http://walkingwithoursisters.ca/about/)
being able to think of this and doing this is amazing. All the people who died or are missing are still being thought of. They will not be forgotten. I think if a group of people got to together and made a big group maybe we could help prevent other people from going missing.

Half way done!

On  my 3 part series one of my ideas was to carve a ball of clay hollow and put a design on it. I have finished the first part of the project but now how to bake it and paint it the way I want it to look.
Day one:

Day two:

Day three:

Day four:

Day five:

The biggest challenge I have had on this was keeping the clay together and not let it crack.I went inside the heart a bit to give it a little more depth. The other challenge I had was picking where to crave to make sure it doesn't look all crammed together.

UPDATE

It now has been fired all I got to think about is the colour I would want to put on it. I think i want to have a dart back colour and make the heart pop put and make it a brighter colour. For the text ill make it black so it stands out and therefore people will be able to see what it says more. The only part I was scared about is how the clay was cracking on me when i was making it. I just didn't want to to show up again after it was fired but it didn't.

3 part Series

I think i would like to do something like this:
http://kirtsy.com/2011/07/25/family-wall-art/

But add in pictures of my family and friends. I would paint the work family and friends so I can add picture of them to show who means lots to me right now. to get the pictures on the cam-vise I will use translucent gel. Ill try and make it so there is not much white space but not so must hat it is overwhelming.

Idea #2

Using clay I would make a ball and carve it out but make the design a heart with the word family inside the heart.
I think this will show the love a family has to have to make a whole family. I think each family is different everyone is. But I think with this clay idea a lot of family can see where my idea came from that a family NEEDS love.

Idea #3

I haven't came up with my third idea but I will keep thinking.
I will blog my idea when I think of it.

Sketchbook #3

Sorry but I can't make the picture turn so hopefully that don't matter. This drawing is a humans eye but in the center of the eye I wanted it to look kind of like a cats eye. I know cats eyes have more shape in it with how the black part of a cats eye is larger. I think it looks good the way it is with showing the colour and the pattern in the eye is like a humans but the center is like a cats eye.

Sketch book #2

That drawing was on a flower. I shaded the background to make it pop out more and to the the ride of the dark lines it had. My teacher suggested the idea to me and at first I didn't know it was a good idea but then after a while of thinking of the idea I though I could try it cause it was only my second drawing I have done. I like the way it turned out it was it more shape and texture to the drawing.
I thought lines wouldn't of been able to be seen with the dark background so I just had to Make the shading in the flour darker to show the lines.
I just felt like drawing a flower it was just a random idea I came up with so I looked up a simple rose drawing and tried to make it my own. I did look off of a image off Google to see where the lines would have to go and what kind of shapes it had in it.

Art 21

Me looking at the video made my mind open up a little bit more. When a girl said "I don't like putting lots of Meaning into it I like it to be the way it is in a very concert way." This made me question my art work. Am I putting to much meaning into my work? Am I trying to hard to make it look the way I want it to look? I want people to get my drawing I make and understand where I got the idea from. Some of the drawing I made before I don't think if it is art or not. It could be important for people to question art works to see if their mind is thinking the same way I was then.
I liked what one of the girls said about making art is being able to see something and listening to it after. I think she is meaning what people will say about the art work if they like it of not. Everyone thinks of art differently, like what is art and what it is about. I think dance is art and Being able to create something no one has yet made is art. The world would be very different if the world didn't have creativity. I think it is true about if you are a artist for a living that you don't know where you will end up and if you will sell something or make something out of that work. Also every human has a different understanding of art. I think is all depends on how you look at things.
I like the way this Video showed the watcher how art is different in every way. How people make the work to how people look at it. Also that art is in everyone. That when you see something that means something to you it will stay in your heart.

The thoughts behind the two videos

In this Video I saw the how powerful the dance was. I personally think dance is a art being able to move your body to tell the story in a music. This guy Sergei Polunin Made me see the talent it had to take to dance the way he did in this video. The first thought I had when I watched the video is why is he wearing a nude colour and if he was naked? What made him pick this song? how did he make me feel the emotional feelings in the video? Could this song be important to him?
When the video finished still made me think why? Just the song alone is power full I think lots of people could connect to the song because the story behind it is so powerful.
The dancer showed the struggle people could go throw to make it throw in life. People go to church to help find there way.
Therefore I think it is a powerful song/video and it is a work of art.

Sketch book #1

The night I was going to Thunder Bay was when I did this, The night before I drew this I had a bad dream I always liked the look and the though of a dream catcher. To keep away the bad dreams. This drawing didn't take me very long but I tried to make shading and depth in this drawing. There is some Hatching with the outline of the drawing.

The feathers on the drawing have line to outline where you see the curves of then coming in and out. The circles where they hold to the circle is just a bunch of little circles made to look like I was shading. When I was trying to Shade I didn't have a picture in front of be to see the light and dark shops of a feather. The ribbon on the Circle has shading as well to try and make the image look a little 3D

I did have a challenge making this because of the fact I have to think of where everything went in the drawing and where to put what. But over all I think I did a good job because this is my first sketch book assignment in this class.

Elements of design.

Texture

Texture is in a lot of different things. Its could be in a drawing may look like some thing has a a physical touch but really when you touch it could be all smooth. With wooden floors the design makes it look like when you touch it  you will feel the roughness of the wood but when you do touch it the feel is smooth. Painters also layer paint to make it really thick so when you do touch the art work you will feel the layered paint the person did you make the art work.
http://designmodo.com/wood-textures/

Line

A person can see lines everywhere you look down at a school floor, there are lines there cutting the space from teach tile and the different colors you see they are all in lines. Cross hatching is when a drawer makes lines to show the depth in a drawing. Cross hatching is when the lines are over lapping each other like a window screen. Hatching is just when it is in one way. Everyone uses some kind of line in every art work. The direction of the way things move in the painting needs a way to point. That is lines.
https://imaginationinternationalinc.com/copic/inspire/how-to/changing-your-lines-from-thick-to-thin/

Space

The Depth that a painting has could have to do with space. Making sure everything is not all crammed up in a painting/drawing is important. When you look at a image of a brain teaser you see the spaces between each line, Without knowing what space means you wouldn't be able to make a successful art work that everyone could enjoy. Using different sizes of line to show the depth in a image and leaving some or lots of Space to show the brain the mine boggling depth of the image below.
http://epmonje.blogspot.ca/2011/09/shape_09.html

Form

Form is close to what shape is. But form has all the 3D effect a painting can have, Or a physical Art peace,  Without Structure we wouldn't be able to make road or make tall buildings. Everything has Form the Way people dress with how are cloths hug are body's and how are body shape is. Form is just the way something is put together to make it look 3D. The way the object the flows with each curve the thing has.
https://tafein2009.wordpress.com/2009/03/03/the-elements-of-design/

Shape

The way something moves. The size of the thing you are at. The shape of it all shows you that nothing is the same. Somethings can be the same. But also something can never be the same. Blowing glass the colors in the glass wont be the same. The size of it could look to be the same but when really it isn't. The shape of all these things call the different. when you are on a laptop the shape is the same but there are all different shape of laptops.
http://ownherhearts.blogspot.ca/2012/09/elements-and-principles-of-design.html

Colour

Colour makes a painting/drawing different. The colour designs of different paints. You wouldn't see the same colour frame from different arctics. The Colour on a rose isn't the same as the colour of a tulip. On animal the colour of the fur on them isn't always the same. Could be the same colour but different Patterns. Colours could be shaded from one tone to another. When you mix to two colours together you can make another colour.

http://irwinbrittany.blogspot.ca/2010/10/elements-of-design-colour.html

Value

Value is when a picture can look 3D but is 2D. The Value of all the colour and the shape and the texture put into one image can give the picture value. The you can see the outline of the woman because the two shades beside each other, The two complement each other and make value and create depth in the picture.
