Brian Jungen

Today is art class we talking about Brian Jungen. about what his art looking like and we watched a view about one of his art projects.
The question my teacher asked me to answer is.
How is CONTEXT important to Brian Jungen's work?

I think it is important because, how his baseball court had holes in the floor and how there were sweat shops in that place. Now Brian Jungen put hole in the floor to show the people that worked there. Context I think means the shape the court was in and that background information behind it.

How is it related to appropriation?

I think it is appropriation means in Brian Jungen work is how he makes  the art. Even though it isnt a panting it is still art.

Past Final

Thoughts while making the stop motion.

I struggled with a lot of thing with making the stop motion. My first idea what I wanted to do wasn't the best, I wanted to do something with baby pictures so I did in some way. The first idea was to do a clock with baby pictures in a clock motion, but then I talked to the teacher and she helped me come up with my new idea. This idea I have done starts when I am only a kid but then it shows me till I am in grade nine, Some of the pictures aren't the best but the watcher can see most of the picture. I was so scared about making a mistake and having to redo parts and adding it into the right place. Thinking all the pictures were going to be the wrong year because I dated the pictures by year. Trying to member the months they were taken would be really hard.

Background information.

In the past about 7-8 years ago my house burnt down completely. My family lost everything we had nothing for the month after the fire. Trying to find the pictures after the fire and seeing what pictures were still in decent shape and that I could use. A lot of the pictures had some burnt marks on the picture. Even though I was young and didn't know what was fully going on I still felt impacted in a way. My parents had a lot to live with trying to get all our stuff back. Also in my past I was bullied in elementary school but when I got to high school things got better. No ones past is perfect and mine isnt for sure.

While making the stop motion.

When I was making the stop motion I had lots of help from my mom. Me and my Mom first went through all the pictures we had left. It took us about 2 days to find all the pictures we needed, While we were looking for the pictures we both were trying to estimate the year it was taken and how old I was then. After we finished all the we organized how I wanted to make the pictures more into the stop motion. I was kinda picky on how the pictures came into the camera view. I didn't want all the pictures to come in from the same spot so I made all of them from different sides on the camera.

After.

After I finished the stop motion and I watched the video and I liked what it looked like. I picked a song to place into the video. The song I picked was Chillin It by Cole Swindell. BUT I DO NOT own this song. My Mom really liked the video after I put everything together. After I finished taken all the pictures I needed there were over 400 pictures to make a 2 minute and 23 second stop motion.

Daniel Gordon gets Physical.

what is appropriation?
Daniel uses pictures he find from one place to another. Simply like cutting a pictures from the internet, and making it into something physical. like in the video he finds a blue eye and gets some kind of shadow effect to is and makes a colorful picture with the eye and other objects.

Review Daniel Gordon's work.

Daniel Gordon s work really gets my eye to look at it, all the colors in the art. The shadows that aren't just normal dark colors he uses bright patterns to make the shadow effect more eye catching. I actually really like his work. I'm not the kind of person to like a lot of peoples art but i like all the colors Daniel uses.

By what Standards did you deem it successful? yours or his?

Looking at the picture above kind of tells me he has semi high standers. I don't know what his standers were when doing this picture but I think it meets the standers I had for looking at the picture. I personally like the colors that are in the picture. It,s not to much and i find all the colors fit in with everyone of them.

How Does he explain the meaning of Photography in his work?

Daniel likes the look of 3-D pictures. He explains the way he goes about making his pictures. Starts with one picture and gets idea from that and so one. the colors he picks to use in his work does a good effect in the shadows he wants to show.

How much time is spend "in process"?

Daniel spends most of his time looking for pictures and coming up with ideas. The time he actually spends on the Project is every little doing the picture. but all the looking and searching for pictures pays off with a amazing colorful picture.

Planning

Planning

For my final I have picked stop motion. I am going to look for more pictures from the past. I am having troubles looking for pictures. It's really hard trying to find out what year the pictures were taken. In the house fire a lot of the pictures are hard find out who they are of when the pictures are burnt.

Stop motion is hard to do. I need my mom help me with holding my iPhone so the camera doesn't move. Also taken three pictures of each if the picturer takes up a lot of room on my phone.

I need so ideas how to finish the stop motion. Please comment if anyone has any ideas...

Staring stop motion.

I have started my stop motion. I am being my stop motion on my past. My past hasn't been that great. My house burnt down about 7-8 years ago. Me and my mom looked for baby pictures   We had a hard time looking and find right baby pictures to use. The struggle of this project is find photos that weren't lost. In the fire we lost everything.

The song I picked to input into the stop motion is. Chillin it by Cole Swindell. I do NOT own this song. I have always loved the song and liked the story it told in the song. I always tell myself when things are hard but chill. So I picked the some Chillin it.

Past

For this project we got to pick anything we wanted, I picked the past for this project. In my past my house burnt down about 7-8 years ago about. Also I have changed a lot from when I was a kid to now. From experience I have been though somethings that other haven't been though. A lot of people don't need to go though a house being burnt down to the ground. my family lost everything in the fire.

What I want to do is stop motion. I will take baby pictures and see them going from the young days to the present time today. I am going to start off with two pictures of my parents then a baby picture of me. and to a wedding picture of my parents. Then it will move on though-out the years.

I will put the year of the picture that is was taken. a few pictures will be of me and my brother. I haven't found all the photos I need to finish this project. I am going to go though pictures with my mom this weekend.

But a lot of my pictures that I had before burnt in the house. So some of the pictures wont be able to be shown as well as others.

Cross classes. Finished

I have now finished my art work that I had to connect with another class. I have posted before about this project about what I had to face. To over come the problems.

The clay wasn't the best idea to work with but I did finish it. I am happy with the finish product. All the hard work paid off.

The struggle I went through on this was shaping that clay, the time it took to be fire the clay. Also finding the right color of paint to use.

With the class I pick was history. We were doing Egypt but we no moved on to another topic. But I do feel I have made more skills working with the clay. I now understand how much work it takes to make something out of clay. And looking back I personally think I did a good job on it.

I wouldn't mind making something out of clay again but I hope next time it won't be as hard.

Please tell me what you think of it in the comment. Thanks for reading.

Update Cross classes

In my class I have done a clay display of Egypt. It shows a step pyramid and the 3 pyramids of Giza. I painted that floor of the display bright yellow and the pyramids are a white ish color.

I have had a hard time finishing this project. Do to the fact that it took so long to fire and finish shaping the cray. The clay wasn't the easiest to make art out of.

Art history

For the art history me and my group picked Jacques Louis david. We had to pick a person and research what he painted and why. Jacques Louis David was a famous painter. In his painting he does photo's that shows an event that is happening when you look at the painting. One of his famous paints is "The Death of Marat Painting". In this painting a woman goes into the bath room and kills a the man. There is a lot of back ground information on why she killed him. I find in the French rezaltion things were really different. This painting is very old. Jacques Louis david had done more then one painting. But the one painting me and my group are looking at is "the death of Marat". I learned a lot from being with Kayla and Victoria in a group.
Lastly this painting was his more famous painting in the French rezaltion. This Artis showed people the story and the event happening then and there.

Classes together

For this project we had to pick a class and find a way to show it in art. We have had time in class to work on this project in the class.

The class I picked for this project was history. We were learning about Egypt. We saw how the buildings were had and how people think they built them.

I used clay to build a step permed and the premeds of Giza. I do not have a picture of the clay art right now. It is being cooked right now.

I had a hard time contracting the clay parts together. I did not know I had to slip the cray. So at school I got my teacher to show me how. It also took awhile trying to come up with this idea. I wanted to do something with clay and Egypt.

The people in Egypt in the BCE years. Did every this differently. When we hear we have to build something big. We think of using operators and big mashens. Back then they did ever thing by man power. Lefting, pulling, digging, and carving. Now we have things to do those things for use.

Stuggle art

Stuggle art

What I did for my struggle art is  a heart trying to fly away but can't. There is a chain that is connected to the bottom of the heart and it's hold it back. There is a lot of back ground stuff that has happened with me. To make me be who I am today.

The reason why I choose this is because, In my life so many things are holding me back. Sometimes I am scared to stand up for things I want or for myself. There is so many things that are holding me back.

I can connect to my drawing a lot. I am the one who did it. I had a hard time trying to get the shading just right. But I got it some what of the way I wanted it.  It did take me awhile to get to done. It took about a week and a half.

is famous art good art

Is any kind of art good.

When I hear about someone's art piece becoming famous I think it must be good.  A lot of people must like it. But there is a lot of art work that is amazingly good but just not recognized by every one. Maybe some people think it if its not its not good. But I think it is good no matter what. If you are happy with what you made then its good. I know I make some art and a lot of people don't see it but I think it is good. When you Google or see a painting it doesn't mean its not good. Just means it isn't recognized yet. There for I think art is art and it is good no matter what people say if it is famous or not!

Land art

Land art

The weather was cold. We all argued about where we should do the land art also where the snow wasn't to deep. I did the land art with my two best friends Kayla and Victoria.  We did the land are at the marina(water front).

I felt the cold weather. The cold weather made me not want to do the land art. We made a square with patterns inside the square.

Victoria did an amazing job on the video and the editing on the video. I feel happy to be able to say that I did that and there if proof that it was done. The snow was cold on the feet when Kayla and I were walking in the snow to make the patterns in the snow.

You can watch the video at: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CFT7yXG4mak

thoughts about land art.

What I think about doing land art. I think it's going to be hard to make the land art. I haven't done it yet. so I still got to see how hard it is. I really think when I do this. Because I have done it yet. But I might have more respect on how much work it is.

The group I am doing this land art with, we are doing it at the arena to create the art. We aren't going to make it really big. But it will be 15 by 15.

Land art

My idea for the land art project is to go to the arena and start to make curls in the snow. And the group I am with is going to record the hole thing and show how we made it. I hope the weather is going to be nice that day. If we aren't going to be able to see it we might need to put paint in the snow.

What is art

What is art?
Art is everything I think. Art is everywhere. In food and buildings. I think every where you look there is art.
What isn't art?
Bullying isn't art. Texting isn't art. Something's I think aren't art though. Like
-bullying
-texting
-war
-copying
What is art and what isn't art is different to every person. People see things differently. The way I see things other people might not see it the same as me. So I gues you can say every one is different.

thoughts art

struggle? struggle mean's a lot of things. When my teacher told me my theme was struggle I thought about a guy pushing a big rock up a hill. the guy is trying to push it to the top and get to the flag on top.
